' With his first release +1, Bleip exceeds musical divisions and takes us in playfull and strange universe at once. A tense combination of deconstructed sounds, soft melodies and accidents produce a mutant music where sound and image unifie in a minimalist ballet.
Bleip is also a member of Pleix collective, a community of digital artists (graphic designers, 3d artists, musicians...). The Pleix touch could be a common work on limits, contradictions and accidents that show the fragility of the digital world. These artists produce tension by joining together heterogeneous graphics, videos and sounds.'

You may remember Pleix's video for the Plaid track which was part of the Creative Review / WARP competition.

Track one "iqio" is a stuttering , rewinding , bleepmania onslaught. Take the guts from a Pc Engine, weld them onto a Atari Jaguar, make the creation dance and sing and this is what you get. Hatched lyrics attempt to break in but are held back by whistley tones and electronic bass strikes. PING!
"More" is scary. A dry robotic voice sings along with a clicky melody and low volume bassline. Really hard to work out what the voice is trying to say. Maybe a malfunctioning courtesy droid which has fallen over in the shower. Just maybe.

"Desk" is a minimal clicky track which introduces liquidy stabs and bubbled tones and drops in a slightly acidic attack near the end. Madness. "Freaky dsco" is nearly a disco, but something is going terrribly wrong, the dj seems to have fallen asleep and the needle has jumped to the end of the track,, but wait....its back alive. A thudding 8bit bassline runs alongside a harsh snarey beat which is then joined by a bubbling spangly assault. Bubble bubble .vvvhhvvhvviihvhvvz....END.

"Oscal" reverberates around your ears, drilling away with a jewel encrusted drill. Shards of diamond spiral into your ear rubbing against the skin creating wily spinning audio twirls. The beat kicks in and it bursts into life, until the main humming bass jumps and loses its way falling into a pit of cables. Slowly he sinks into sleep and falls silent. Cool track.

"Clicks" is the theme tune to pacman sneaking out of the house at 3am, careful not to wake Miss Pacman. Running out onto the street his little red shoes tack and spark off the metallic roads, and cars beep their fudge horns as he dashes across the road. "Escape from New York" or "The Warriors" crushed inside a kinder egg, shaken up and poured into a battery, this battery is used to power Pacmans alarm clock. ZAP BEEP BOP Miss Pacman is awake...watch out Pac!

Pleix - Bleip +1 is cool. The tracks are maybe to short and im sure they could really kick off if they were longer. Anyway I like this ep, its a journey into the audio side of Pleix which is good to hear after seeing the visual work.

Beepy, minimal and adventurous. Coola.
