Michael Manning drops his debut full lengther on the Airecords and 'Public' is the result, time to listen.

"Release" begins with a wavey bulge of audio flipping and diving around in the air like a dove trapped inside a hubba bubble bubble. These ripples cause the trees nearby to shake and rock scattering their leaves and buds like a synchronised show of gratitude to the pod of atmosphere which isnt causing that much trouble really. Real atmopshere this one.

"Sound check" is a one toed dip into the mind of a robot roadie with clunks reverb and a beats battling with feedback in a non stop formation laden melee, whilst "The street television" samples the quiet time when nobody is watching you, and seemlessly blends that with a calculating overtone that has big red audio ears piercing into you, and you rear back as the sunlight reflects off the metallic ears packed to the rafters with crunchy diamonds and sliced bass. Real film soundtrack vibes on this one.
"Walk in the park" starts off with minimal reflections in the mesh above, but gradually gathers new sections and beauty with the brain capturing vocals of Helen Lord, SO relaxing and attention heightening its crazy. Fuzzy body parts and coloured logos rebound off each other in the secret world of "I dare you". This track has that element secret ingredient of real character and has you wrapped around its little synthetic finger with its sublime mixture of acoustic drum snaps and childhood fuzzy looking in the sun until you sneeze happiness, real masterpiece.

"Save" is the soundtrack to a casket of jewels embedded deep within a hidden cave in the bottom of your garden pond, it's melting titanium gently flowing over glass that been smoothly shaped after years in a cold fresh stream of water...to put it in a few simple words...stunningly magical is what I would say. "Insect potentiality" is another flashback to your early years at star school under the watchful eye of your droid teachers, packed to the eyeballs with hidden love and intricate carvings, it really reminds me of the Ghost in the Shell OST, whilst "Today" flips another page in the michael manning book of freshness and interrupts proceeding with a beat led echo battle, that transforms itself into a glowing pip of colour that blasts itself into the atmopshere with a retina warping show of craziness, that only goes to helps to strengthen the quality of this album so far.
"Astral Poetry" has the air of a warm cruising wind running through it which is slowly bringing all that it touches back to life, with its long dragon like tentacles covered in shards of convex mirror, its regurgitated vocals slip and slide from the mouth of an unseen siren singing through the sky like a drunken kite. Thought provoking and spooky stuff. "Waiting for closure" drops a tiny pill of intelligence into a minature gel lined dish which is situated inside the smallest plastic formed laboratory in the world, then sits back and lets nature take its course, with a scuffing beat protocol and ghost house full of spectres for company. Top stuff.

Michael Manning has truely created 14 tracks of inspirational music with this release. The entire album is full of intelligence, careful planning and obviously hundreds of hours of work, that all slot together to project this one onto the classic shelf instantly . This isnt ' Intelligent dance music' or just 'Electronic Music' but 'Intelligent emotion music', IEM it is, and IEM is what it will stay. PUBLIC is a masterpiece.

Hugely recommended
