Intricate ( Thomas Federspiel & Fabian Stbu ) return
with " dori doreau (on) " ep, the follow up the
mightly album " In Pectra ".
' Matix ' opens with a xylphone melting melody which is
rich with textures, shapes and snapping drumbeats. Soom
after a heavy almost plasticy bassline comes into effect
and adds an air of dominance to the proceedings whilst knotted
sirens battle with each other in the air, and melts deeply
with the percussive rattlings that Intricate do so well.
Coat that off with a bag of vocal slices that variate through
the air whilst a heavier crunch attack takes place. This
is all good stuff.
'
Presence ' confirms that you have enlisted to join the robot
army, and chucks you in line for a formation walk to the
nearest barracks. Thudding times are here, with a pounding
thump which gives off a dark black mist everytime it hits
the ground as the intelligent murmurings inside the metal
sheds are joined by robotic jabberings which flick around
within like moths around a gigantic lightbulb. Immense atmospheric
stuff. ' Obregad ' is a playful monster who is just that
little bit too heavy handed when he goes mad. MASSIVE crunchy
beats take control as a swirly synth melody cuts through
the air like a jet fighter taking evasive action that drops
off exploding starburts to confuse its invisible attackers.
This one will really get the dancelfoor in motion, cracking
and shattering when the needle is dropped. More jawdropping
stuff by Intricate, 2 damn good.
'
Tense ' grinds into action with a cascading motion of processed
beats and machined calls with that little piece of magic
thrown in, so you just know that this one is going to be
unstoppable. The layers of automated sound drop into place
like a self assembling jigsaw and carefully lazer guided
weapons hit their target with ease as the gargantuan size
of this track continues to triple itself in size every ten
seconds. This one is mashed up to the maximum and blows
the room to pieces in the final section with a rave style
pulsing grind disaster anthem, that has to be heard to be
appreciated. Killlleeeerrrrrr.
Well,
well, well Intricate have smashed it up big time in this
one. Thomas and Fabian have produced another slice of music
of the highest quality which just shows how so so strong
the Spezialmaterial team is thesedays, its just classic
after classic. So recommended.
