Yet another release from those peeps down at the Boltfish
Camp, this time by MINT aka Murray Fisher with his second
release on the label.
"Standing
still" drops a smilerich melody from the very beginning
and backs it up with sweeping and eye catching charm that
is backed up by a drumbeat that although thudding in its
makeup is rhythmic and programmed to the highest degree.
The whole track feels like an introduction to a story, with
a flyby over the entire landscape that the whole thing will
unfold on, pure quality throughout. Well played Mint.
"Milk"
rattles along like a makeshift go kart on a track made of
matchheads, everytime a sandpaper wheel brakes or lockups,
little explosions of flame and smoke rise up into the blue
blue sky. Clouds roll over and bask in the rich sunlight
from above as the rain rises up like particles of sweat
and proceeds to bubble and boil in its new alien environment.
Just kick back, take a sip from your can of Tab clear and
suck it down. Double awesome stuff. "A question of
timing" takes you undercover, in a sterile laboratory
where the slightest show of emotion is enough for you to
get your ass kicked right up and out. Its best to stand
up straight and listen to your fellow double agent 'Droid
908s' talk to you in some kind of drumbeat, hissy minimal
alarm style language, so just nod and blink like you understand.
If only I had packed my translator valve. This track is
to jack to, just roll up your titanium sleeves, blend in
and at the earliest possible chance and STEAL THE DATA!.
"Little
gift" steals your plimsoles, runs off through the sandpit
and dissapears into the canteen...that fooking bastido.
You make haste and begin the chase, running through years
of blurry history you stir up a calming tune of plodding
slow motion memories and wake up commodore 64 screeches
cut down to bite size portions all coated in a transparent
film that cause them to float slightly off the ground. Real
memory inducing stuff.
Manmade Nature ep is another superb release from Deadbolt.
A full of character and rammed with rich electronica callings,
this is another must hear release from Mint. Just remember,
this music is FREE! yes free (you can still buy a nice cd
version), its hard to beleive it still is, with the quality
running throughout. Just get it.
