Second Thought Universe review for this month, whats goin on, its like buses.

"Beatwork" takes us into the mind of Mr Piklington. A DEEP bassline pounds away as playful whips and airturns flip themselves around creating spanlgy cuts in the thick fog. The smooth floating melody drops in over the top like a light rain refreshing everything right up. The contrast between the airborn floaty elements and the powerful but friendly bass really makes this track. Full of character and smiling all the way through. Excellent.

Duck and take cover as you bassjump into a huge empty power cell, on the outer regions of Quadrant "DX35NHI". All seems quiet apart from remaining scuttles and pwore surges cursing throughout the massive metal casing. Calm melodic elements float up from the darkness below and light up your downwards path. Cuttings of forgotten machinery scuff down the interior walls creating a cool beat to keep you company, and halfway down you are joined by a courtesy droid who babbles at you in his primary language. Beautiful track.

"Vengassa" walks you speedily in formation towards the testing centre with jelly like waves of electro and subversive big brother thumping calls , be sure to wear your anti static helmet, whilst "Device One" rattles you right up with cylinder shaped beat pulses and tingly glass hits mixed heavily with a brooding intelligent bassline. Drop in an adventure creating melody, and you have a secret mission in the waiting. Excellent.

All aboard the information train to Mars with "Desimer". Climbing out of the ground after being asleep for 7000 years, the machine manages to find power via a relay of solar panels and radioactive rods littering the floor. Minmal clicks creates gears that fuzz into action until enough standby electricity is created to enable the once mighty machine to stand again.
As the artifical sun once again beats down on the metal 2 exterior, rich sublime melodies whistle and bounce around like a playful insect. Beats rich in thought line themselves up to be activated as the jouney back to exact revenge on his creators that attempted to destroy him. Downloaded audio imaginations all crammed into 6mins 21 sec.

"Goof" whips up a melting pot of rotating pixel fans which give off a simple exhaust of tingling bounce whips which flood the deprived airwaves with life. A semi bouncing spring of a basslike pulls this track along as vocals pop into sight every now and again. A syrup like synth melody entices the sun to get just that bit nearer and warm the barren landscape up, and it does, as life springs up from beneath rocks and behind empty bullet shells . Experience the data richness of "Goof" for yourself, you must hear all 11mins of this, through the heavy orchestral style ending.

Thought Universe does it again. A super rich mixture of bassambientcharacterglitchotronics which releases a chemical into the air which makes the cold day outside seem warm. More excellence from Mark Pilkington, it cannot be denied.

E xcellent

Sam
