New release on Adaaat from Bjorn Hatlesjog who is also known as 'Romvelope'.

"One Course Meal, the debut album from ADAADAT co-founder ROMVELOPE (better known as Bjorn Hatleskog), taking you on a Norwego-Scottish tour through electro, R'n'B and hip-hop, with diversions into a bewildering array of other styles. Ska, samba, country and western and disco are all ingredients in the one course meal. Freaky experimental noise interludes complement the 21st century car crash pop songs. ROMVELOPE's finger never leaves the edit button as the smile on his face appears by turns genial and manic. "One Course Meal" also features vocal collaborations with DJ SHABUSHABU, ERASER 99, LAZY SUSAN and MC KANBOJIA to name but a few, adding a seductive Hit Parade sheen to the 8-bit mayhem. "One Course Meal" is a delicious and satisfying dish of steaming dancefloor fodder and succulent head food."

On with the audio's...

"Finger of Blame feat Mc Kanboija" is a plod fest through crazywavy land with your shoulders covered in scale like layers of lips, that enjoy shouting at you 24/7 from your bony outcrops..damn them mouth's. Mc Kanboija sounds like a loon, but I like it. "Dental Triangle feat Libby Lloyd" warps the sun into a frisbee shaped dish and proceeds to skim it direct at your face,,fuckin bastaad that triangle is. Plinks plonks and smoothed off cubes, roll around in formation and cause a dusty cloud of intelligence to rise to the ceiling, spitting out rewinds, kickdrums and sharpened water droplets, that melt like ice-cream beautifully into your fur like exoskeleton. Awesome stuff.

Imagine a hole in the ground full of marzipan and its raining PLASTICINE, well if you can, you must be listening to "Aping a ram feat OMMM" its short but oh so sweet, whilst "Rice Fever feat Eraser99" is more of an aggressive speed run through a distorted gameboy dream, laced with a boy and his blob callings and stuttering drumbeats, that circle Eraser99's vocals perfectly. Get on down, down down then eject yourself from this 8bit partay. I love it. Blip blap blam, zap, ricochet pulse, rida rida, we must be in the vicinity of "Intensive Squares". Just for one minute picture the glorious scene of a bridge made of Super Famicoms, and then if you will, place a bustling metropolis carved from pink and purple controller keys on top, wire yourself directly in, and download all that days data into your eyes. Yeh you know exactly what I mean. Joy oh joy. "Diagnosis Murder" which takes its name from one of the greatest programs ever created, doesnt sound anything like the theme tune, but does upload you into the dirtiest available port on a calculator, with serious intent. Numbers flash and stutter throughout, with slices of voice bouncing off the green light wire fence all around you, as you crunch up into a tiny porcelain ball and roll out an eye socket into safety, or something along those lines.

"Squirrels under siege" plays like a tiny orchestra rapping with a Casio my first synthesizer. Bassy trombone style hits and crisp as a shatterproof ruler sparks, talk to each other in an unknown language, whilst you stand just out of sight having a good listen in. You sneaky mofo. "Meercat Mountain feat Libby Looyd, Lazy Susan AND Gavin" takes it to the top of the castle and spits down at you from above, with its undersized mouth, like a minature army of cats with glass faces just plain old taking the piss. A bit of a way in, you enter a warp zone, and aimlessly float around with a cloud like whistle as the density of the air doubles, before the whole world turns into a huge oak tree and creaks itself into the future with endless happiness. Nine minutes of awesomeness.

"One course meal" is mad stuff, a cascade of sounds, memories and voices, that blend together to create a solid package for the Adaadat catalogue. Grab your pencil case and join Romvelope and his pals, on a blatantly crazy mission into sub levels, glowing faces and information overload. If you love the old school games, brightly coloured buttons and music that will open up new sectors in your brain, this is the key.

Well pld Bjorn, three thumbs up.
