Last and final release from Ai in the limited edition ep series and also the last release of 2004, as with the other three ep's it comes in a deluxe sleeve with photography by fine art photographer Dan Holdsworth.

Almost military in style, with an impending marching army on the horizon "Obsession" gives off a very powerful aura from the very beginning. Circular in shape, helicopter blade whirring growls watch from above as the beats line up in formation with very calculated looks on their faces, as the distorted psyched out vocals, spit out loving messages but still somehow leave you thinking about their sincerity.
This track gives off a dark european style essence, with techno style growlings that program themselves into your mind and just dont let go. Clever track.

"Xanax" bubbles out of the floor chucking out a snap processed beatpattern and a very very deep bassline that has mutated beings all over it, and seems to be fighting its way towards you. Its voice crackles towards you with smoothed edges, so as it reaches you its already distorted out of range in a jelly like state, I think its trying to say something important, but its hard to tell. Deep trembling and calculating.
"To die and be" runs a trumpet through a smooth jazz filter and smears the fluids over a echoing glass timber, which has a heavy core of iron filings that rattle around in their transparent cage emitting no sound. This one reminds me of the soundtrack for the Hong Kong action film ' Hard Boiled' starring Chow Yun Fat, watch the opening scene of that and you will see what I mean. Confutatis on a smokey pool hall tip deep in darkest China. Quality stuff.

"Victimize" takes it deep undercover with a pounding bassline, which doesnt even have to show itself as you can already tell, this one is going to be silver in colour as smooth as a beach washed piece of glass, and be awash in coloured lights, as it speeds through the city streets in the early hours. More of those Confutatis vocals run through this trackm giving off a very eery feeling, but also engaging the listener with their almost hypnotic callings. Programmed and created with control in mind, more top stuff.

"Light reflects sound" is a an excellent debut release on Ai records for Confutatis. Full of fluent techno style, blended with almost interrogating style vocals, it has the style to keep you engrossed in the four tracks on the ep. Ai have yet again added another page to their ever expanding catalogue, and shown us the clever and thought out way to keep it fresh.
