One of four clickclickdrone release reviews coming spread
over issues #19 and #20 of Tesselate. This the fourth release
from this new but intriguing label, definetly worth checking
out. One half of Colamn is Lawrence Grover (label owner)
who also has a release under the guise of 'Boc scadet' (click01)
also on the same label, and also a track on the forthcoming
Toytronic compilation.
"El kuhc4" instantly fills whatever space you
are sitting in, with a piercing tone and repeating jingle
melody, almost like a small wafer thin manmade butterfly
on its first solo mission. All this beauty is then joined
by a rich thudding bassline, sounding like missiles raining
down from above, which is then pushed into check by a snare
like drum, which stutters and cracks around once in a while.
Character creating soundtracks for the button pressing people
out there. "Turt other" takes more of an exploration
style ticket in its hands and runs off into the piercing
moonlight laughing crazily. Pipping laser strikes are bouncing
around like its someones birthday, as a small portable computer
sings his happy song on a rocky outcrop by the lake. Pounce
pop and click along to this one, its the panic music to
the last level on Pacland (well I think it would do well
there). Recommended.
"Saerv"
flips it to the other side and takes you on a trip to wafer
land. With every step you force a layer into the liquid
powercells below, thus giving off a starshaped ring that
gives off a smooth melody, just so you know whats going
on. Cascading beats and attention catching alarms in the
shape of a heartwarming firebomb explode in a calculated
pattern, which luckily doesnt burn, and releases a whirlwind
of science fiction beats into the air, for you to love and
enjoy. I love this track. "Senn rel (blurred girl mix)"
takes it down to the parched hillside on a smooth summers
say, where its not that hot, so you can chill it right out.
One of those tracks where its best to relax those eyelids,
and let the music take you into the mysterious world of
Colamn AND THE MONSTEROUS DROIDS OF METLEXIAN!!, na only
joking.
'Ep
one' is a lesson in 'the good shit', technical melodies,
with diamond shattering production, you cant go wrong. Clickclickdrone
are now classed as a 'quality label ' in my books, four
releases in, with each one having grabbed a lot of peoples
attention, I can see big things coming out of this kent
based label. So keep your eyes and ears peeled.
Highly
recommended.
