New compilation on the Inflatabl records label, featuring
the three artists above. ' Feeling a little blue? Pick up
that guitar and smash it into pieces baby. Electronic mayhem
in 12-bar form, from Akufen, Freeform and The Rip Off Artist
'
"What kind of blue" by The Rip Off artist pops
and starts its way across the icy surface, with blurts of
strummed guitar and spiralling whispers that melt together
to form almost a country style melody, laced with 16bit
undertones, whilst "Ain't gonne beg ya no more"
by Akufen barrages you with hyper minimal pops and squeals
all seeping out of a beaten up processor stumbling his way
through the dark of night, accompanied by blues excerpts
that bring it all to life.
"Blue
tooth blues" from Freeform semi distorts a fine sounding
blues guitar riff weaving it with sci fi elements and a
rich atmosphere to create a heartwarming track. "Guitar
Trouble" from Mr Rip Off himself bubbles up from the
deep blue water in the petri dish and begins to jump and
spurt itself all over the place, leaving springy zap remnants
and bouncing game soundtrack tunes all over the shop, all
iced over with a fudge like guitar riff, that works so well.
Damn fine.
"Lazy boy blues" has you sitting in deep tennessee
outside a bar made completely of light, with Akufen working
on a laptop set for the regulars. The droids in the bar
seem to be loving it as the blues essence is mixed in a
huge red mercury cauldron with electronic tanglings and
memory inducing samples, which have you leaning way back
in your rocking chair. Smoooth stuff.
"Blue
Too" hums and bumbles towards you, is it friend or
foe, only Freeform can reveal the answer. Malfunctioning
ladybirds scutter around in the dark air, as a calmly strummed
guitar projects its audio from the mist over there on the
stage. A big rotating flip skipping square of blended Bluexperimentalist
audio.
'Blu Tribunl' sounds like it could be a strange release
before you hear it, but Akufen, Freeform and The Rip Off
artist have managed to pull it off. The blues essence does
really work well woven in with experimental and electronic
cotton, forming a big floating sphere of interest, to massage
your brain in the early hours.
